The book is about three lectures given at King`s college, London. The lectures were designed to point out certain salient lessons which our legal history teaches concerning justice, but they in nowise represent a systematized account of the problems of the relations between ethics, law and administration, which represent theri principal themes. The issues with which the lectures deal are so controversial that it is not to be expected that the views expressed will meet with universal or even, peerhaps general agreement. They are not lightly thrown upon the world, but are the fruit of mature consideration extending over years of study of the cognate subjects.
