Momentous changes have taken place in the last five years in the field of Constitution of India. In the last five years, the Supreme Court has delivered several important decisions in the areas of public employment, reservations in education and employment, taxation and on the scope of compensatory tax under Articles 301 to 304. These and much more important judicial decisions have necessitated a complete revision of the first edition. This is, virtually, a fresh commentary containing an exhaustive and critical notes on the Constitution of India with torrential downpour of case law references of the Supreme Court of India and various High Courts on the subject.

In the present new edition author has taken steps to re-arrange the case laws in more orderly fashion under distinctive topical headings. Some portions of the commentary have been re-written. It is hoped the present new second edition will be found more useful to our readers, professionals and the Bench than its past edition.

Writing a book is an adventure; to begin with it is a toy, then an amusement, then it becomes a mistress and then it becomes a master and then it becomes a tyrant, and the last phase is that just as you are about to be reconciled to your servitude, you kill the monster and strew him about to the public
